SANBORN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal car-semi collision that occurred near Sanborn on Monday morning. The North Dakota State Patrol reports that 46-year-old Sara Leick of Valley City died after the car in which she was a passenger was struck by a semi hauling soybeans.
The collision occurred around 8:15 a.m. when a 15-year-old girl, driving the vehicle, attempted to cross State Highway 1 at the intersection of a Barnes County road east of Sanborn. The semi struck the car on the passenger side, resulting in Leick’s death.
The driver of the car sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo for treatment. The truck driver, identified as Dwight Albrecht of Valley City, was also seriously injured and is receiving medical care.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
