JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Council has approved a series of utility rate increases set to take effect on Jan. 1, 2025, following a unanimous 4-0 vote at the Monday meeting.
Under the new plan, sewer rates for residential, commercial, and industrial users will increase. Monthly rates for residential, commercial, and industrial users will rise by 40 cents to $8.65, with an additional 15 cents per 100 cubic feet of water. For multi-unit rentals and mobile homes, rates will go up by 25 cents to $5.25, also with a 15-cent water usage increase.
Water utility rates will also see changes. The monthly hydrant meter rental will double from $10.50 to $20, while water tokens for filling tanks will increase from $1.50 to $5 each. Other adjustments include a $20 hike in the water connection deposit (now $120), a reduction in the reconnection fee to $50, and a new $50 fee for disconnections.
Garbage container costs will rise as well. Monthly rates will increase to $15.85 for a 35-gallon container (up 45 cents), $19.20 for a 65-gallon container (up 60 cents), and $22.40 for a 95-gallon container or for commercial, rental, and mobile units (up 65 cents). Standby charges, covering containers kept on standby, will rise to $15.85 for residential and $22.40 for commercial and mobile units.
Additionally, the will-call collection fee for 95-gallon containers will increase from $36 to $38 per collection, while the non-use and non-return fee will double from $5 to $10.
