VALLEY CITY,  ND (NewsDakota.com)  As the Vikings honored their seniors to end their regular season, a pair of juniors made sure they left with a win.

Morgan Freije recorded eight kills and nine blocks, and Rosie Anderson had nine kills and eight blocks in a 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-22) sweep of the Dordt, IA Defenders at Graichen Gym Saturday.

It was a high-performance result for the Vikings,  who topped Dordt in a tight, five-set affair in Sioux City in their eighth match of the season.

Macy Fridgen added eight kills, while Morgan Nelson, one of the four seniors playing their final match at Graichen, added six blocks.  The Vikings tallied 30 blocks as a unit.

The Vikings rallied from down three at 18-15 of the first to win 25-20, then led 9-0 to start the second, winning 19 of 21 rallies in the stretch.

Sadie Hansen had 28 assists, five kills and three blocks.  She needs 20 assists to record 1000 for the season.

Ellie Rush served six aces on the night.   She and Lexi Thorsgard, along with Hansen and Nelson, were the four seniors recognized before the match.

The Vikings are now 14-13, and face Dickinson State in the opening round of the NSAA tournament Friday.
