SALINA, KS – A 26-point first quarter helped University of Jamestown Women’s Basketball to a 67-51 win Saturday over Kansas Wesleyan at Mabee Arena.

Kate Cordes led Jamestown (2-0) with 17 points.  Jessika Lofstrom scored 15 off the bench and Megan Oswald scored a career-high 13 points.

Cordes scored nine points and Lofstrom eight in the Jimmies’ big first quarter.

Jamestown led 38-22 at halftime and Kansas Wesleyan came no closer than 11 the rest of the game.

Lofstrom was 6-of-12 shooting, made three three-pointers and had six rebounds.  Oswald didn’t miss in five shots and had five rebounds and two steals.  Cordes had four rebounds, three assists and three steals.  Kate Busek led UJ with seven rebounds.

Jamestown shot 42 percent from the field and limited Kansas Wesleyan (1-1) to 38 percent.  LaMyah Ricks led the Coyotes with 15 points.

The Jimmies will meet second-ranked University of Providence Friday in Great Falls, Montana.
