O’FALLON, IL – Four different players scored Saturday as McKendree University completed a weekend sweep of University of Jamestown ACHA Women’s Hockey 4-2 at the McKendree Metro Ice Plex.
Janaya Laqua, who had scored twice in a 4-0 McKendree win on Friday, scored 3:34 into the game for the Bearcats (12-2-0-0).
A powerplay goal by Kiley Hasenfratz made the McKendree lead 2-0 at 13:15 of the second period.
Gaby Schroder’s fourth goal put Jamestown (3-5-1-0) back within a goal at 15:03 in the second, but a shorthanded goal just 52 seconds later by Isobelle Hobbs made the McKendree lead 3-1.
Kiran Vugteveen scored her sixth of the season for the Jimmies at 17:55 and Jamestown was down just 3-2 heading into the third period.
Alexandra Binning provided the final goal for McKendree 2:25 into the final frame.
Lilah Drew made 20 saves for Jamestown, who was outshot 24-16.
The Jimmies will play a home-and-home series next with Concordia-Moorhead, starting Friday at the Moorhead Sports Center.
