BELLEVUE, NE – Bellevue’s Bruins were on, the Jimmies weren’t, and Jamestown’s hope of hosting the NSAA Volleyball semifinals and final may be gone.

Eighth-ranked Bellevue dominated Saturday, upsetting the previously unbeaten second-ranked Jimmies 25-15, 25-17, 25-19 at the Lozier Athletic Center.

Bellevue (24-3, 7-1 NSAA) opened the first set with a 9-2 run and Jamestown (19-1, 8-1) never came closer than four points in the set.  Bellevue had 16 kills and hit .556.

UJ was even at 11-11 in the second set before Bellevue scored the next nine.

The Bruins led 7-3 early in the third set and by as many as seven.  Jamestown came within three points twice, but Kealy Kivinemi’s 12th kill ended the match.

Kiviniemi hit .632 and also had four blocks and four digs.  Eve Fountain had 10 kills and eight digs.

Aleah Zieske led Jamestown with 10 kills, two digs, a solo block and two block assists.  Gracie Adamson and Karlie Anderson had six kills each.  Bellevue had 42 kills to the Jimmies’ 32, and Jamestown, hitting in the .230s for this season before this match, was limited to only .136.

Jamestown must now finish at least a game ahead of Bellevue in order to be the top seed for next month’s NSAA Volleyball Championship.  Should the teams tie for first, the Bruins would own the tiebreaker over the Jimmies due to more points in their head-to-head matches.

UJ will have its final NSAA match and final road match of the regular season Thursday at Dickinson State.  Coverage will begin at around 6:45 PM on The Voice of the Jimmies, Jamestown 107.1.
