Minot North’s up-tempo offense proved too much for Valley City as the Sentinels secured a 42-21 victory, claiming the WDA title and locking in the top seed for the AA Football Playoffs.

The game began with both teams exchanging punts before Valley City broke the stalemate. A calculated drive ended with Kaleb McClaflin’s 10-yard touchdown run, giving the Hi-Liners an early 6-0 lead. Minot North responded swiftly on their next possession, scoring on a 15-yard touchdown run to edge ahead at 7-6.

Valley City stumbled on their next play with a fumble, and Minot North capitalized with a short touchdown, extending the lead to 14-6. Another Hi-Liner turnover—a deep interception—led to another Sentinel score, making it 21-6 by halftime.

After a slow start to the second half, Minot North struck again, stretching their lead to 28-6. Valley City answered with a long touchdown drive, narrowing it to 28-14. When the Sentinels fumbled on their next play, the Hi-Liners seized the opportunity, scoring to close the gap to 28-21.

However, that was as close as Valley City would get. Minot North’s defense forced multiple turnovers, allowing their offense to add two more touchdowns and seal the game at 42-21.

The loss places Valley City as the second seed in the west, setting them up for a home matchup against the Wahpeton Huskies on November 1. Fans can catch the action live on 1490 AM/96.3 FM KOVC or online at NewsDakota.com.
