MADISON, SD – The set win streak may be over for University of Jamestown Women’s Volleyball, but the overall win streak isn’t.

Second-ranked Jamestown moved to within one win of the regular season NSAA title with a four-set win over Dakota State Friday at the DSU Fieldhouse, 27-25, 25-20, 20-25, 27-21.

Jamestown was down 23-20 to Dakota State in the first set before Charlee Krieg had two straight kills and Charlotte Lempka scored on a block for a 23-23 tie.  The score became 25-25 before the Trojans committed a serving error and an attack error to give the Jimmies the first set.

UJ (19-0, 8-0 NSAA) scored three of the last four points in the second set to hold off Dakota State (14-10, 3-4).

But in the third set, the Trojans led by as much as 20-12 before winning by five and snapping Jamestown’s streak of consecutive set wins at 50.  Viterbo had taken the first two sets before the Jimmies rallied for a five-set win on September 6, the last match before Friday where Jamestown had lost a set.

Dakota State threatened to force a fifth set with a 17-11 lead in the fourth.  A 6-1 run by UJ gave the Jimmies a 23-21 lead.  Then at 25-25, a Trojan service error gave the Jimmies match point and Gracie Adamson scored a kill to keep Jamestown unbeaten.

Krieg had 13 kills for the Jimmies, hit .414 and made just one error in 29 attacks.  Aleah Zieske had 13 kills and 12 digs.  Lempka, Adamson and Lexi Olson all had nine kills each.

Lily Bertsch had 31 set assists and 13 digs.  Tenley Buddenhagen had 22 assists and eight digs.

Ellie Holen led UJ with 37 digs and Grace Hegerle had 15.

The Jimmies will play eighth-ranked Bellevue on Saturday afternoon in Bellevue, Nebraska.  A Jamestown win would clinch the NSAA regular season championship and the right to host the semifinals and final of the NSAA Women’s Volleyball Championship on November 15 and 16.
