BISMARCK – In Jamestown Blue Jay Volleyball’s quest to stay with the top teams in the WDA, the opponents are prevailing.

Legacy did so on Thursday, topping the Blue Jays in straight sets 25-22, 25-21, 25-19 at Haussler Gym at Legacy High School.

In the first set, Legacy (20-11, 14-5 WDA) snapped a 20-20 tie by scoring five of the set’s last seven points, with two coming on kills by Cambree Volk.

Five straight points gave Legacy an 18-11 lead in the second set before Jamestown (17-12, 9-8) came within three at 24-21.  A Brooklyn Felchle locked up the second set for the Sabers.

Legacy then jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the final set before the Blue Jays scored nine straight points, sparked by four aces by Amelia Newman.  An Edie Hegerle kill tied the match at 17-17 for Jamestown, but Legacy’s 8-2 run ended the match.  Marlee Falcon had a kill and two blocks.

Caylin Kraft led Legacy with 11 kills.  Felchle had nine and Volk scored eight.  Avery Will had 16 digs and Volk notched 15.  Jenny Celley had 31 set assists and five kills.

Lucy Falk had 10 kills to lead Jamestown.

The Blue Jays will play their final home regular season match Tuesday in a “double counter” against Dickinson at Jerry Meyer Arena.  Coverage will begin Tuesday at around 6:45 PM on The Voice of the Jimmies, Jamestown 107.1.
