VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Early, Wednesday morning, there was an apartment fire in Valley City that directly and indirectly impacted four Hi-Liner students and an employee of the school district.  The fire caused the death of one individual and displaced all of the other residents.
Valley City Schools Superintendent Josh Johnson said we have two families (two VCHS 7-12 students) that have been displaced from their residence at the apartment and are temporarily living in a hotel or with family in Valley City.  It is our understanding that the two families were able to get back into the apartment to collect clothes and personal belongings. In addition to providing counseling services for the students, we would like to send out an opportunity for our school and community to offer financial support for the two families that will be incurring unexpected costs for laundry, hotels, personal belongings, and food.
Johnson said if you would like to make a financial contribution for the two Hi-Liner families displaced from the apartment fire, please drop off a check or cash at the district office at 460 Central Avenue N.  He said, we received a lot of requests from both our school and community wondering how they could help these individuals. While we received a lot of questions about donations of clothing, furniture, food, etc., we believe right now the best way to help the families is through a monetary donation.
Thank you for your support of our Hi-Liners and families here in Valley City, Josh Johnson Superintendent of Valley City Public Schools.
