GRANDIN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A fatal crash that occurred early Monday morning on Traill County Road 81, approximately one mile north of Grandin, claimed the life of a Texas man, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Shortly after 4am on Monday, a 2004 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 40-year-old Bernardo Martinez Jr. of Rio Grande City, Texas, collided head-on with a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado pulling a trailer. The Impala was heading north when it crossed the centerline and struck the southbound Silverado.
Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Silverado, 49-year-old Adrian Paul of Kindred, N.D., sustained minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, and no charges have been filed.
Agencies responding to the scene included Grandin Fire, Grandin Ambulance Service, the Traill County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
