The Valley City Hi-Liners overcame a slow start to grind out a four-set win over the Devils Lake Firebirds (19-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-18), snapping a three-game losing streak.

The Hi-Liners struggled in the first set, falling behind early and unable to recover. Kinley Johnson and Emma Hofstad of Devils Lake dominated, leading the Firebirds to a 25-19 win in the opener.

In the second set, Valley City reduced mistakes and delivered a more consistent effort. They established an early lead and maintained control, securing a 25-19 victory to even the match.

The third and fourth sets mirrored the second, with Devils Lake plagued by unforced errors, allowing the Hi-Liners to build and maintain leads. Key contributions from Dacota Potratz and Ava Huseby, along with strong serving from Georgia Zaun and Kinlee Sufficool, helped Valley City close out both sets 25-18.

Valley City will host Oak Grove at the Hi-Liners Activity Center on Thursday at 7:00 PM.
