JAMESTOWN – Kiran Vugeteveen scored twice on Saturday as University of Jamestown ACHA Women’s Hockey skated past Minnesota 5-1 at Wilson Arena.
Gaby Schroeder gave Jamestown (2-2-1-1) a 1-0 lead with a goal at 4:09 of the opening period.
Vugeteveen’s first came on the power play at 17:57, assisted by Sam Beaulac and Jaeda Clayton.
She scored again at 3:25 of the second, set up by Chloe Gauthier. Gauthier then gave the Jimmies a 4-0 lead with a powerplay goal, assisted by Schroeder, at 16:10.
Jayden Baker scored at 12:43 of the third period.
Minnesota (0-3-0-0) ended the Jimmies’ bid for a shutout with a goal by Lilianna Rohlf with 1:44 remaining.
Makenzie Gibson made 18 saves in net for Jamestown. UJ had a 30-19 shot advantage.
The Jimmies will again host the Golden Gophers Sunday at 3:30 PM at Wilson Arena.
