VALLEY CITY, N.D. (CCHD) – “One of our goals in public health is to help community members live in their homes as they age. With our next Memory Café, we want to share how better balance is a way you can do so,” says Kerry Due, Director of Nursing at City-County Health District.

“The Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance class has been very popular. This class helps you improve muscle strength, balance, flexibility and mobility. We’ve had participants report ways they’ve used the skills learned to prevent falls in a slippery parking lot or to help them stand up easier. Stacy Ingstad and Terry Undem have become instructors and will have you up and moving for better balance during the Memory Cafe,” shares Sue Milender, NDSU Extension – Barnes County.

The Sheyenne Valley Memory Café will be meet on Thursday, October 24 from 1-3 PM at Faith Lutheran Church located at 309 4th Street NE, Valley City. Stacy Ingstad and Terry Undem will provide a short program “Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance” starting at 1:30 PM.

“If you are concerned about memory loss and want to learn more, join us for the next Sheyenne Valley Memory Café,” states Due. The Memory Café is an opportunity for people with early onset dementia or Alzheimer’s to connect as well as their caregivers and family members.
