WELLS COUNTY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A two-vehicle crash on Highway 200, approximately 1.5 miles west of Sykeston, left a West Fargo man with life-threatening injuries on Sunday evening. The crash occurred at 7:36 PM, involving a 2019 Ford F-150 and a Kenworth semi-truck hauling a grain trailer.
According to the ND Highway Patrol, the 36-year-old driver of the Ford F-150 was traveling westbound on Highway 200 when he failed to notice the semi-truck, driven by a 45-year-old Cathay man, slowing down to turn into a farmyard. The pickup truck rear-ended the grain trailer at highway speeds. The semi-truck was partially in the driveway at the time of the impact, and the Ford F-150 came to a stop in the westbound lane.
Emergency responders, including the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Wells County Sheriff’s Department, Sykeston Fire Department, and Carrington Ambulance, arrived at the scene. The injured driver of the F-150, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was initially transported to Carrington Hospital before being airlifted to Sanford Hospital in Fargo. His injuries are considered life-threatening.
The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. No charges have been filed against him. However, the driver of the F-150 faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under suspension.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
