JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) has been recognized with the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Bronze Award for its efforts to improve stroke care in rural communities, a media release states. The award reflects JRMC’s commitment to enhancing healthcare outcomes for stroke patients in areas where access to specialized medical services can be limited.

Residents of rural areas, including those served by JRMC, often face a higher risk of stroke and other severe health conditions compared to their urban counterparts. This recognition highlights JRMC’s readiness in providing timely and effective stroke treatment, despite the unique challenges of serving a rural population.

“JRMC is proud to be recognized for our efforts to improve stroke care for our community,” said Mike Delfs, JRMC president and CEO, according to the release. The medical center’s team prioritizes top-quality care for stroke patients, even in the face of obstacles posed by rural healthcare delivery.

The American Heart Association acknowledged the vital role of rural healthcare providers like JRMC, noting that the medical center met key stroke care standards. These include the swift use of clot-busting medication, efficient patient transfers, and comprehensive screenings. The award recognizes JRMC’s adherence to evidence-based practices aimed at improving stroke outcomes.

“Rural communities deserve high-quality care, and this award shows JRMC’s commitment to delivering it,” Delfs added. “Our team continues to invest in advanced technologies and ongoing staff training to ensure that patients in our community receive the best possible stroke care.”

Dr. Karen E. Joynt Maddox, a volunteer with the American Heart Association and co-director of the Center for Health Economics and Policy at Washington University in St. Louis, emphasized the significance of JRMC’s efforts. “Patients in rural areas often face more challenges when it comes to healthcare. JRMC’s work is helping close that gap and improve care for all patients, no matter where they live,” she said.

JRMC’s recognition serves as an important milestone in its ongoing mission to address the healthcare needs of the rural population it serves.
