Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Tornados are now win and into the postseason after they beat the Hillsboro-CV Burros by a score of 33-7 to keep their 3 game win streak alive.
The game started with Oakes going on a long opening drive that capped off with 6:44 left in the 1st with a 9 yard touchdown run for Chris Titus. Beau Thorpe would then find Carter Ptacek to get 2 extra points making it 8-0. Oakes and Hillsboro would trade series of downs with a Carter Ptacek fumble being recovered by the Burros. The Burros wouldn’t be able to do anything with it however and Oakes would open up a drive with Thorpe finding Dylan Harris for a 62 yard touchdown pass making it 14-0 with 4:56 left in the half. On Oakes’ next drive however Thorpe would be intercepted by Griffin Mitzel. The Burros would again be prevented from doing anything and Oakes would get the ball back with Titus finding his way back to the endzone from 3 yards out to make it 20-0 to end the half.
The Tornados would open up the half with a kickoff recovery after a Hillsboro receiving error in which they didn’t pick up the kickoff giving the Tornados prime field position. Thorpe would find Titus in the endzone with a 12 yard touchdown pass to make it 27-0. Oakes would get one more scoring play with Ptacek running in from 6 yards out to make it 33-0. The Burros would finally get on the scoreboard with Tyson Leshuk finding Bryce Miller from 14 yards out to make it 33-7 to end the quarter. There would be no scoring in the final frame giving Oakes the 33-7 win.

Oakes is now 3-2 in Region play and with Lisbon losing to EEK and Thompson losing to Central Cass they are now solely in possession of 4th place and is win and into the postseason.
They have the toughest schedule left to play as they take on both Central Cass and Kindred to end the year. Oakes will play the Squirrels on Friday for the final home game of the season. You can catch all of the action on KDDR The Tornado with pregame beginning at 6:30 and kickoff at 7:00.
