MINOT – Jamestown Blue Jays Boys Tennis’ number one doubles team of Luke LeFevre and Braxton Burkett qualified for the state tournament with a fourth-place finish in the West Region tournament, which concluded Saturday.

LeFevre and Burkett won their two Friday matches to make Saturday’s semifinal.  First, they topped Mandan’s Lucas DeRosier and Donaven Birdine 6-1, 6-0 and then defeated Jaden Kleinkan and Ryan Mullally of Bismarck Century 6-3, 6-4.

On Saturday, the Jamestown duo was beaten in the semifinal by Minot’s Aidan Diehl and Grayson Schaffer 6-4, 6-0.  LeFevre and Burkett then lost the third place match to Charlie Holzer and Carter Anderson of Bismarck Century 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).

The state doubles tournament will begin on Friday at Choice Health & Fitness in Grand Forks.
