JAMESTOWN – In their season opener, University of Jamestown ACHA Women’s Hockey lost a third-period lead and fell to Midland 3-2 in overtime Friday at Wilson Arena.

Callie Maguire scored the winner for Midland (5-0-0) only 20 seconds into overtime.

Molly McMurrich broke a scoreless tie by putting Midland in front at 2:32 of the second period.

Only 1:59 later, Kiran Vugteveen scored to tie the game.

The Jimmies led 2-1 after Mackenzie Couling scored at 12:10 of the third period, but Darbi Poole tied the game for Midland three minutes later.

Sam Beaulac had two assists for Jamestown.  Lilah Drew made 38 saves, including 20 in the first period.

The teams will play again Saturday at noon at Wilson Arena.
