VALLEY CITY, ND  (VCSUVikings.com)  Valley City State’s Sadie Hansen and Morgan Nelson have each earned NSAA Player of the Week awards, the conference office announced Monday. Hansen was selected as Setter of the Week while Nelson was named Defender of the Week.

NSAA Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week
Sadie Hansen – Valley City State (N.D.) – 5’10”, Senior, setter – Oakes, N.D. – Hansen posted a season-high 55 set assists as (RV) Valley City State (N.D.) held on to a 3-2 home thriller over Mayville State (N.D.). She posted a double-double with 19 digs in VCSU’s lone match of the week. Hansen added five kills and a block. She averaged 11.0 set assists and 3.8 digs per set.

NSAA Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week
Morgan Nelson – Valley City State (N.D.) – 6’0″, Senior, right side/middle blocker – Argusville, N.D. – Nelson tied a school record 11 blocks in (RV) Valley City State (N.D.) 3-2 home thriller over Mayville State (N.D.). She averaged 2.2 blocks per set in Vikings’ lone match of the week. Nelson produced a double-double with 14 kills in the match. She registered a .500 hitting percentage.

The Vikings have a tough road trip that begins tonight at Dakota State, who is receiving votes in the national poll.  They will travel to #8 Bellevue University Thursday.
