JAMESTOWN – Though Dakota State proved to be pests, the Jamestown Jimmies prevailed again in a sweep.
UJ Women’s Volleyball stayed unbeaten with their sixth consecutive three-set win, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23 over Dakota State at Harold Newman Arena.
Dakota State led in every set, though, including 4-0 in the first set. Thanks to kills from Charlotte Lempka and Aleah Zieske and a Tenley Buddenhagen ace, the Jimmies led 19-13, then 22-18 before winning three of the last four points and the set.
The Trojans led by as much as five in the second set, but a Grace Adamson kill tied the score at 21. Adamson and Lexi Olson then scored kills and Jamestown had set point. After a DSU kill, Olson smashed another to give Jamestown (12-0, 4-0 NSAA) a two-set lead.
Dakota State (11-7, 1-2) led 18-16 and 23-22 in the third set, but Zieske had a kill to tie the score, a Lempka block gave the Jimmies match point, then Zieske killed again to end the match.
Zieske had 15 kills and five digs. Olson scored eight kills and six total blocks. Charlee Krieg and Karlie Anderson had seven kills. Anderson hit a team-high .417.
Lily Bertsch had 21 kills and 14 digs. Buddenhagen had 20 assists and six digs. Ellie Holen led in digs with 18 and had five set assists.
The Jimmies have won all of their sets in NSAA play, swept their last six matches and have won 21 straight sets.
