DICKINSON – When it had a chance to be on the field, the Jamestown Jimmies’ offense was more efficient.  UJ’s problem was that Dickinson State’s offense was nearly unstoppable.

Will Madler passed for a career-high 415 yards and three touchdowns Saturday as 22nd-ranked Dickinson State overwhelmed Jamestown 42-6 at the Biesiot Activities Center.

Madler found nine different receivers as he was 26-of-32.  Semaj Clark caught seven passes for 161 yards and a touchdown.  CJ Stinson had five catches with 94 yards and a score.

Zach Hammett scored the Jimmies’ only points with a four-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

DSU (3-1, 2-0 NSAA) took their opening possession 75 yards.  Madler was six-of-six, including a 29-yard scoring pass to Clark.

UJ’s Ray Benners ended the second possession for Dickinson State with his fourth career interception.  The Jimmies’ Brooks Butt then pinned the Blue Hawks at their own four yard line with a 38-yard punt.

But Dickinson State marched down the field again, scoring at the end of a 13-play, 96-yard drive with a Braden Zuroff two-yard touchdown run.  Dickinson State led 13-0 with 13:32 remaining in the first half.

Jamestown (0-5, 0-3) then had its best drive of the game, going 75 yards in 11 plays and ending with Hammett’s first rushing touchdown of the season and sixth of his career.  The Jimmies were within 13-6 with 7:35 left in the half.

DSU then scored quickly.  Madler hit Stinson with a 39-yard pass to the Jimmies’32, then found Stinson again with a 32-yard touchdown pass with 5:58 to play and the Blue Hawks led 20-6.

Jamestown punted and Dickinson State ended another touchdown drive with a three-yard run by Madler.  DSU led 27-6 at halftime.

With eight and a half minutes left in the third quarter, Madler connected with Jaxon Wienbar on a 29-yard touchdown pass.

Early in the fourth quarter, Butt bobbled a snap on a punt as pressure came near him in the back of the end zone.  He stepped out for a safety.

DSU’s last touchdown was on a one-yard run by third-string quarterback Jace Friesz with 6:07 left.

Dickinson State rolled up 582 yards of offense and 32 first downs.

For Jamestown, Hammett rushed for 41 yards.  Nick Martinez was 12-of-21 passing for 101 yards.

Jamestown, after giving up 12 turnovers in their first four games, allowed none on Saturday.

Jed Rantz, the leading tackler in the NSAA and in the top 10 nationally, led the Jimmies with nine tackles.

After a bye week, the Jimmies will play the first of this season’s two Paint Bucket games with VCSU in Valley City on Saturday, October 12.  Coverage will begin that day at 12:30 PM on The Voice of the Jimmies, Jamestown 107.1.
