The Valley City Hi-Liners boys tennis team was unable to secure a win on senior day, falling to the Fargo North Spartans, 7-2. The Hi-Liners’ only senior, Miles Taylor, lost both his singles and doubles matches, though head coach Matt Neilson was encouraged by his “excellent” performance against top competition.
The Hi-Liners will compete in a play-in match Monday at 4:30 p.m. in West Fargo. The match will follow a 3-2 format, featuring three singles matches and two doubles matches, with each player only competing in one match. The winner will advance to the regional tournament as the No. 7 seed in Fargo on Thursday, while the losing team’s season will come to an end. The regional individual tournament will take place Friday and Saturday in Fargo.
