VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jefferson Elementary School PTO raised more than $300-thousand-dollars to improve the landscape of the playground area at the school.

During the ribbon cutting ceremony, PTO spokeswoman Natasha Howard said this project was possible thanks to the generous support from the community.

Howard also wanted to thank the contractors and those individuals who put in the extra effort for this project.

A large donation by the John F. and Brenda Stearns family helped make this project a reality. Their son John, and his grandson along with several students present at the ceremony liked the results.

Fundraising started in December of 2023, groundbreaking and construction was completed in the summer of 2024. The ribbon cutting ceremony was held Wednesday, September 18th.
