WASHINGTON, DC (NewsDakota.com) – Senator John Hoeven announced today that the North Dakota Department of Parks & Recreation will receive nearly $1 million in funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) for improvements at Fort Ransom State Park. The grant, awarded by the National Park Service, includes $921,663.50 for water and electrical upgrades to 23 campsites.
According to a media release, the project will upgrade electrical service and install new hydrants at the park’s campsites, enhancing safety and improving the visitor experience.
The LWCF, established by Congress in 1964, supports conservation efforts and outdoor recreation initiatives across the U.S. The fund’s primary source of revenue comes from federal oil and gas leases. Senator Hoeven helped secure full funding for the LWCF in 2020 through the Great American Outdoors Act.
Hoeven emphasized the importance of maintaining safe, accessible attractions in North Dakota’s parks, with this funding playing a key role in that effort.
