While the Hi-Liners didn’t secure a team victory at the Sheyenne Invite, Head Coach Matt Neilson says plenty remains to be excited about as the season enters its backstretch. “I have been telling everyone that we are much improved on the season, and here is more objective quantified evidence to prove it. Last season, we went into this tournament and did not win a match at any spot. This season, we won 11 matches on the day as a team.  Also, we already have over double the individual victories than we had all last season (39 in 2024 vs 19 in 2023) and we still have four EDC matches and the post-season to go.”

Valley City’s next two games will be at home. The first is on Tuesday against Grand Forks Red River at 4:00 PM. This matchup will also be Tennis Appreciation Night, during which there will be a free picnic for all players, coaches, fans, and community members. The second match this week will be against the Sheyenne Mustangs on Thursday, with a 4 p.m. start time.
