VALLEY CITY- The Carrington Cardinals volleyball team took part in the 2024 Valley City Tournament on Saturday and went 1-2 in the event.
Maple River def. Carrington 2-0 (25-19, 25-22)
Isabel Wendel (13) and Brynn Smith (10) each had double digit assists, Wendel and Kenadie Pazdernik had 12 digs each and Mercedes Lura had ten kills as the Cardinals fell in the pool play opener to the Raiders. Wendel and Calleigh Hewitt each added five kills in the match.
Carrington def. North Border 2-0 (25-13, 25-10)
The Cardinals got fifteen assists from Brynn Smith and a balanced attack was led by Harper Kollman’s seven kills as Carrington split their pool play with a straight sets win. Seven different Cardinals had at least two digs defensively in the match.
Langdon/Edmore/Munich def. Carrington 2-1 (25-14, 19-25, 15-10)
Carrington’s tournament finished with a hard-fought loss to Langdon. Kenadie Pazdernik had fifteen digs and Harper Kollman added twelve of her own. Kollman and Edyn Hornaert had seven kills each and Brynn Smith had twelve assists in the match.
