SANBORN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A wrong-way driver caused a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 near mile marker 283, approximately three miles southeast of Sanborn, on the evening of September 14. A media release reported no injuries, but one driver was arrested following the incident.

At around 8:39 p.m., 39-year-old Skyler Holub of Jamestown was driving a 2017 Ford Escape westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-94 when he sideswiped two oncoming vehicles. The drivers of the other vehicles—a 2014 Ford Econoline U-Haul truck driven by 40-year-old Kory Russell of Valley City, and a 1996 Buick Century driven by 32-year-old Peyton Glassic of Snohomish, Wash.—were able to take evasive actions to avoid a head-on collision.

The Ford Escape struck both vehicles before veering into the south ditch, where it came to rest. The road was wet, and weather conditions were cloudy at the time of the crash, a media release states.

Holub, who was not injured, was arrested by the North Dakota Highway Patrol on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless endangerment. The crash remains under investigation.

The Barnes County Sheriff’s Department and Valley City Fire Department also responded.
