JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A 63-year-old Jamestown man sustained serious injuries following a motorcycle crash on Sunday around 3:15 pm, during a memorial ride approximately five miles southwest of Fort Ransom.
Monte Rodacker was riding a 2000 Honda Shadow in the middle of a group of approximately 300 motorcycles participating in a September 11th tribute run, which began in Valley City and was headed toward Fort Ransom. The incident unfolded when a group of motorcycles, including a trike, passed Rodacker at a high speed. After passing, the group quickly applied their brakes while attempting to navigate a curve, forcing Rodacker to brake abruptly.
Rodacker was thrown from his motorcycle onto the roadway, sustaining serious injuries. He was initially transported to Lisbon by ambulance and later airlifted to Sanford Hospital in Fargo.
Rodacker was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. No charges have been filed, and the North Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
The Highway Patrol is asking for assistance from anyone who may have witnessed the crash, particularly regarding the identity of the individual operating the trike motorcycle.
