The North Dakota Farmers Union (NDFU) has awarded a $500 grant to LaMoure School through its Kommunity Kids program, supporting the purchase of Guardian Caps for the junior high and high school football teams. Guardian Caps are soft-shell helmet covers designed to reduce the impact of hits and the risk of concussions during football games and practices.

Cole Just, a student at LaMoure School and an athlete for the LaMoure Litchville Marion Loboes football team, submitted the grant application. Just, the son of Christof and Kelli Just of Berlin, N.D., and a member of NDFU, initiated the effort to enhance player safety after identifying the need for the protective gear.

The Kommunity Kids program encourages NDFU youth to engage in their communities by supporting local organizations through donations. In return, recipient organizations agree to share information about the Farmers Union Youth Program with their members, a media release states.
