MINOT – In two more matches before conference play, University of Jamestown Women’s Volleyball continued their early-season sharpness.
On Friday, UJ had two sweeps at the Minot State Dome, defeating Brandon 25-19, 25-16, 25-13 and Minot State 25-22, 25-9, 25-21. The Jimmies, ranked fourth in the latest NAIA Coaches Poll, are now 8-0.
Jamestown 3, Brandon 0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-13)
After trailing Brandon 8-5 in the first set, the Jimmies then won 10 of the next 14 points and had another 6-0 run later in the set. Brandon led 15-14 in the second set before UJ ran off 10 points in a row. Jamestown was even at 6-6 in the third set before an 11-3 run.
Charlee Krieg had 10 kills and hit .500. Aleah Zieske and Lexi Olson each had four kills. Lily Bertsch had 14 assists and was successful on all 10 of her serves. Tenley Buddenhagen had 11 assists. Ellen Holen scored 12 digs. Karlie Anderson had two solo blocks. Olson hit five aces and had seven digs.
Jamestown 3, Minot State 0 (25-22, 25-9, 25-21)
Against a future NSIC foe, Jamestown pulled away late in the first set, then had an eight-point run for an 18-5 lead in set two. A five-point run was the difference in the deciding set.
Zieske had nine kills and Charlotte Lempka made seven.
Buddenhagen and Bertsch had 16 assists apiece. Holen had 16 digs. Olson made five block assists.
