JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department is notifying residents of a high-risk sex offender who has moved within the city.

Larry Gant, alias Larry Johnson, Jr. has moved to the Buffalo Motel at 1530 6th Ave. SW in Jamestown.

Gant was convicted in 2003 of aggravated rape in 2003 in Shelby County, Tennessee.  Gant, and 2 other individuals entered a residence through a bedroom window and raped a developmentally disabled teenager that was sleeping in the bedroom.  He served 8 years in prison.

Gant is not wanted by police at this time and has served the sentence imposed by the court.  This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault or intimidate the offender.  Attempts to harass, intimidate, or threaten these offenders or their families, landlords, or employers will be turned over for prosecution.
