ELLENDALE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – An Oakes man who was facing 29 charges of child pornography was sentenced to 15 years in prison with 10 years suspended on Thursday, August 29th.
Ryan Lee Marthaller was charged with several counts of promoting or directing an obscene sexual performance by a minor. Nine counts were dismissed during the sentence hearing.
District Court Judge Daniel D. Narum said Marthaller will serve five years in prison and following his release, he’ll serve five years of probation. Marthaller was given credit for 183 days served in the Barnes County jail.
Court documents allege the most resent incidents occurred between November of 2023 through February of 2024. Documents say his victims include young girls and boys.
Court records also show Marthaller was convicted on similar charges back in 2019, for luring minors by computer.
