Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The Carrington girls volleyball team opened the season with a convincing 3-0 win (25-10, 25-21, 25-17) over the Harvey-Wells County (HWC) Hornets. The Cardinals were paced by Sadie Lura offensively with 7 kills, added 1 block, and went 13-13 serving with an ace. The Cards were very balanced with Calleigh Hewitt and Harper Kollman adding 6 kills. Kollman added a pair of service aces as well. Isabel Wendel added 5 kills, 2 blocks, served 17-17 with a match high 4 aces, and added a match high 12 assists. Edyn Hoornaert added 4 kills and 2 blocks. Kaydence VanRay also added 4 kills and 2 blocks. The Cardinals served 71-74 overall (96%) in the match. Brynn Smith added 9 assists and tied Wendel with a match high 4 aces.
HWC was paced by Braylee Keller with 4 kills and 2 blocks. Rachel Neumiller added 3 kills and 1 block. The Cards (1-0) will travel to Thompson on Thursday night to face the Tommies and all action will be aired on AM 1600 KDAK (THE CARDINAL), FM 100.1, and www.newdakota.com
