BISMARCK – The start for 2024 was good for a team with championship aspirations.

Jamestown Blue Jays Volleyball won five of six matches Friday and Saturday in the Bismarck Public Schools Crossover at Bismarck High School.

On Friday, the Jays were 2-1.  Jamestown won over Grand Forks Central in three sets (25-19, 25-16, 25-11) and over Fargo Davies in three sets (18-25, 25-23, 16-14) before losing in three sets to West Fargo (25-21, 25-23, 15-7).

Leah Trumbauer had 23 kills on Friday and Lucy Falk added 20.  Edie Hegerle had 67 assists and three aces for the day.

Jamestown then had three wins in three sets on Saturday, topping Watford City (25-17, 25-10, 15-5), Fargo North (25-22, 25-18, 15-8) and Horace (25-23, 20-25, 15-9).

Falk had 22 more kills on Saturday and Trumbauer had 18, as did Mari Anderson.  Trumbauer also served 10 aces.  Hegerle had 68 more assists for a two-day total of 135.

Jamestown will play its WDA opener Tuesday at Bismarck St. Mary’s.
