BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – More first place finishes in Horseshoes, this time it was at the North Dakota State Horseshoe Tournament that was held in Bismarck.
About a month ago Noah Gabel won the Men’s Class I World Championship held in Kennewick, Washington. But this time Noah’s younger sister and the late Wilbur Gabel’s granddaughter Uria got into the action too. She placed first in the State Juniors competition held Saturday, August 24th beating the Champion from the last three years twice on her way to the trophy. Her name will now join Noah’s name on the Traveling trophy.  Noah was a past 4 time State Junior Champion. Noah finished 2nd on Saturday in his class after losing a couple of very close matches.
On Sunday, August 25th, Noah and Uria teamed up and won the Class B Championship. They breezed through their first 2 matches but on the third match Noah had to throw a ringer at the end to win, then in the 4th game both Noah and Uria threw double ringers at the end to win that match and the 5th and final match they won without too much drama to take home the title and finish undefeated. They both used to pitch and travel to many tournaments with their grandpa Wilbur, who passed away 5 years ago this fall.
