NORTH SIOUX CITY, SD – For a University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team of whom expectations are again high, they couldn’t have started much better than they did for 2024.

Jamestown, ranked ninth in the NAIA preseason poll, won four matches over Friday and Saturday in the North Sioux City Tournament at the CNOS Fieldhouse.

On Friday, the Jimmies swept Morningside, then won in four sets over McPherson.  UJ swept Benedictine and St. Ambrose on Saturday.

FRIDAY

Jamestown 3, Morningside 0 (25-16, 27-25, 25-23)
Aleah Zieske recorded 12 kills and 12 digs while hitting .273. Gracie Adamson fired nine kills. Lexi Olson, Charlotte Lempka and Charlee Krieg had six kills each.
Ellie Holen had 15 digs. Lempka scored five total blocks. Lily Bertsch had 21 assists, with Tenley Buddenhagen nothing 13.
UJ out-hit Morningside .210 to .108 with 43 kills and just 18 errors.

Jamestown 3, McPherson 1 (25-18, 17-25, 25-23, 25-18)
Zieske again led the Jimmies in kills with 20 while Lempka had 11.
Holen had 16 digs. Buddenhagen had 23 assists and seven digs. Bertsch had 22 assists and eight digs.
Jamestown hit .166, but held McPherson to only .107

SATURDAY

Jamestown 3, Bendictine 0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-21)
Krieg hit a blazing .733 with 11 kills. Olson had 10 kills and hit .391. Adamson and Zieske had nine kills each.
Bertsch dished out 23 assists, with Buddenhagen passing out 15. Holen had 16 digs and Olson had four block assists.
Jamestown hit .319 for the match, including .395 in the first set and .400 in the second. The Jimmies had 48 kills and only 12 errors.

Jamestown 3, St. Ambrose 0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-16)
The Jimmies hit .247 and held St. Ambrose to .020 for the match, including -.029 in the first set and -.054 in the second set.
Zieske led Jamestown with 11 kills as eight UJ players recorded kills. Olson had six. Adamson and Maddie Demars each scored five.
Buddenhagen had 18 assists and Bertsch had 14. Holen had a season-high 19 digs and Olson had a season-high five block assists.

Jamestown will meet Judson and Viterbo Friday in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
