FARGO, N.D. (NDHP) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol had a busy Monday morning responding to multiple crashes.
The patrol said on August 26th, at approximately 8:39 AM, a two-vehicle crash resulting in injuries occurred on eastbound Interstate 94 near the 25th street exit. The crash involved a 2011 Dodge Charger and a 2023 Chevy Silverado pulling an enclosed utility trailer.
Due to another three-vehicle property crash that occurred earlier, Interstate 94 traffic was slowed, and stopped along eastbound Interstate 94 near 25th street prior to this injury crash.
Meanwhile, an eastbound Dodge Charger operated by 37-year-old Sheena Kelly of Moorhead was observed driving recklessly by other motorists. Kelly failed to see that traffic had come to a stop and rear-ended the trailer of the stopped Chevy Silverado that had come to a stop in the middle eastbound lane of Interstate 94. The crash resulted in significant front-end damage to the Charger and disabling rear end damage to both the trailer and Silverado. The Charger was disabled and came to rest blocking the middle and right lane of eastbound Interstate 94.
The driver of the Charger, Kelly sustained serious none-life threatening injuries and was transported by Sanford Ambulance to the Sanford Hospital. The driver and passengers of the Silverado were not injured.
Kelly was arrested and faces DUI and drug related charges.
Traffic was impacted on Interstate 94 while law enforcement and emergency crews investigated and cleared the crash scene. This crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
