Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The 2024 football season began with week 0 in Oakes. The #3 Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich (LEM) Cardinals came to Cummings Field and beat the Oakes Tornadoes 32-6

The game started rough for Oakes as LEM got the scoring started in under 3 minutes off of a 22 yard touchdown pass to Tanner McDonald. The Tornadoes would march down to the 7 yard line on the following drive but an interception by Eastyn Schaefer prevented any scoring. Two plays later Jax Johnson would connect with Cody Amble for a 68 yard touchdown pass to make it 13-0 to end the quarter.

Oakes would once again turn the ball over via interception as Amble would intercept Beau Thorpe at the Oakes 38 yard line. The Cardinals would once again score after a 5 yard pass to Schaefer made it 20-0. That would be the last scoring play of the half.

LEM would get the scoring started in the 2nd half off of another big passing play from Johnson connecting with Amble for a 35 yard touchdown pass to make it 26-0. Oakes would score on the following drive after a huge kick-off return from Reese Nitschke put Oakes in the red-zone. Chris Titus would then run the ball in from 5 yards out to make it 26-6 to end the quarter.

There would be one scoring play in the 4th quarter, a 3 yard run from Theo Romfo made it 32-6 which would be the final score.

The Bank North Player of the Game was Carter Ptacek who had a great night running the ball.
