CASSELTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office arrested Craig Andrew Vinton, 32, of Fargo, N.D., following a series of vehicle thefts that spanned multiple counties earlier this week.

The incident began on the morning of Aug. 20, when deputies and the Casselton Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire in rural Casselton. The burning vehicle was later confirmed to have been stolen from Fargo. During the investigation, authorities discovered that a second vehicle had been stolen from a nearby farmstead.

Later that day, the second stolen vehicle was recovered in Ransom County, where a third vehicle was reported stolen. The investigation led deputies to a rural Davenport address around 7:30 p.m., where a passerby had reported a vehicle in a ditch. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies arrested Vinton and transported him to the Cass County Jail.

Vinton faces charges of motor vehicle theft, including a Class B felony and a Class C felony.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further information is being released at this time.
