JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) has become the first healthcare facility in the area to offer state-of-the-art contrast-enhanced digital mammography (CEDM), a move aimed at significantly improving breast cancer detection rates.

CEDM employs contrast agents to enhance breast tissue visualization, allowing for earlier identification of abnormalities. Early detection is critical in breast cancer treatment, and this advanced imaging technology is expected to play a transformative role in improving patient outcomes.

The acquisition of a power injector, an essential component of the CEDM machine, was made possible by a generous grant from the JRMC Foundation. The Foundation’s support underscores its commitment to advancing healthcare in the Jamestown community.

“We are thrilled to support purchasing the new contrast-enhanced mammography unit at JRMC,” said Tonya Perkins, JRMC Foundation Director. “This investment aligns with JRMC’s commitment to providing comprehensive women’s health services, including breast cancer prevention and early detection.”

In addition to the new technology, JRMC continues its commitment to accessible healthcare through its No Excuses program, which offers financial assistance and support to women needing mammograms and other preventive screenings. The program aims to eliminate barriers to care and ensure that every woman in the community can access essential health services.

“As the new radiology manager, I am excited to build on JRMC’s responsibility to provide cutting-edge technology,” said Conrad Mitzel. “The addition of contrast-enhanced digital mammography (CEDM) is a prime example of our dedication to early breast cancer detection and exceptional patient care.”

To further enhance the patient experience, JRMC has also upgraded its mammography suite with comfort-focused amenities, including warm pink robes and new artwork, creating a more serene and welcoming environment for patients.

The introduction of CEDM at JRMC marks a significant advancement in local healthcare, reinforcing the center’s commitment to improving health outcomes in the Jamestown community.
