hole in all our lives. The family appreciates the outpouring of support since he left us. We hope you
continue to hold us in prayer as we make our way through this without him here.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 4:00 PM Friday, August 23 rd , 2024, at Dacotah Pavilion in
Chautauqua Park in Valley City North Dakota, followed by a lunch. Please plan on staying with us for
a while to share stories, laughter and tears.
Corey Alan Neseth was born July 14, 1964, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota to Clarion J. “Jerry” and
Lois (Berg) Neseth. Corey joined brother Craig, and now their family was complete. The Neseth
family moved a few times while the boys were growing up. They wintered in Okeechobee, Florida
when Corey was two years old. When he was a toddler they lived in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
Corey attended Preschool in Wilmar, Minnesota and completed Kindergarten through 9 th grade in
Pipestone, Minnesota. He completed his high school years in Perham, Minnesota graduating in 1982.
Corey attended Moorhead, Minnesota College in 1983 and graduated from Moorhead Technical
College in 1985 with a Technical Degree in Business Accounting. In 1993, Corey graduated from
Mankato State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
Corey enjoyed the high school band, playing the coronet. He excelled in sports, playing football,
softball, basketball and running track, even breaking school records with his speed. Corey also taught
himself how to ride a unicycle, doing it well enough to bring a gallon of milk back from the store…he
sure loved his milk.
Corey was a jack of all trades and worked in many places throughout his career. He owned Corey’s
Wholesale Electronics in Coon Rapids, Minnesota for 12 years. When he closed that business, he
began the search for a job he would love. He was an independent sales rep in Cambridge,
Minnesota, a customer service manager for Schwann’s in Maple Grove, Minnesota, a Sales
Representative for Partsmaster in Dallas, Texas, and to round out his earlier jobs, he was a machine
operator for Barrel ‘O Fun in Perham. Corey moved to North Dakota and worked for Hibu as a Sales
Representative in Fargo, North Dakota, RDO Equipment in Lisbon, North Dakota as a Service
Manager and then for Bakkegard & Schell in Valley City as a Service Manager. He then landed at
Drug Plastics in Valley City where he was currently employed. Corey was a night supervisor, and
while the night hours weren’t his favorite, he enjoyed the people and company that he worked for.
Corey’s move to North Dakota was to marry the love of his life Debra Baumgartner. They joined in
marriage October 3, 2015, with 60’s themed wedding that centered around his 1969 Mustang. Corey
and Debby had so much fun planning this large family event with all taking part…for it truly was all
about the family.
Since then, Corey and Debby have hosted many family reunions and gatherings at their home
including Corey’s recent 60 th birthday party. He took pride in their home, and together they loved to
host. Corey was a grill master and would smoke many pounds of meat for these events. He was
also a master beer brewer and took such pride in sharing his latest beer with family and friends.
Corey had just made two different beers for his father-in-law’s 90 th birthday party. He was so proud
that it went quickly, and everyone loved it.
Corey had a zest for life and doing new things. In 2015, after their wedding, he attended scuba diving
classes in Valley City. Corey completed the course and was able to take his open water dive in
Cozumel while there on their honeymoon. He loved being in the water and all the beauty under the
ocean.

Corey loved hunting, fishing, sports, cars and music (especially classic rock and the blues). He
always said, “You can’t brew a good beer if you’re not listening to the blues while making it.” He loved
traveling and in recent years he and Debby had bought a time share in Cozumel. They were just
there in April of 2024. Corey also loved to camp, and he had been busy rebuilding their old RV so
they could enjoy many more years in it. They had plans of taking it south for the winter once they
were both retired. Corey had also been busy rebuilding his 1969 Mustang so he could start doing car
shows. He bought a new motor, had new seats made and the basement was full of everything for a
Mustang waiting to be put together to make that car a beauty. Plans were made, but now cannot be
completed. Our hearts are broken.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Debby; step-children Cally Carpenter and Chase Carpenter; his
mother Lois Cheever and step-father Walt Cheever; brother Craig (Kim) Neseth; father-in-law John
Baumgartner; brother-in-law Greg (Kim) Baumgartner; brother-in-law Todd (Lin) Baumgartner;
