VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Last Saturday Valley City Parks & Recreation along with numerous volunteers facilitated the Sheyenne River Fest.  In spite of hot and very muggy weather, there were nearly 200 kayaks and close to 40 vendors in Chautauqua Park.

Our beautiful community continues having vivid colors along with plush lawns and gardens due to plentiful moisture this summer.  Plentiful moisture isn’t good for everything however.  While construction projects are progressing, they are somewhat behind schedule.  Hang in there.

With nice grasses and gardens, come weeds; DANG, “I hate when that happens” as they really detract from the beauty of our properties.  Will you please remove weeds from your sidewalks and around your buildings uptown and at your homes?  Thank you.

The Summer Olympics are in progress, I hope you have taken some time to watch the young folks compete. Excitingly, swimmer Katie Ledecky has Williston, ND, ties and shot putter Peyton Otterdahl attended NDSU.  One doesn’t even have to be a huge fan to enjoy as “Olympic competition” is like no other, why not have a look?

Valley City is Blessed to have a Beautification Committee comprised of people with passion for beautifying our city.  They can use some help however, there are no special talents required, just a desire to help will do nicely.  “Step up” and give it a try, if it isn’t for you, you can always “call it a day.” Please contact: sharon.e.buhr@gmail.com, thank you.

Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) has a strong contractual affiliation with Western Minnesota Municipal Power Association (WMMPA.) The financial strength provided by the affiliation earned a AA- bond rating along with “stable outlook” from Fitch Ratings.  The AA- rating allows MRES favorable interest rates which in turn contributes to pleasing rates for us.
