JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) –  The Jamestown Fire Department responded to a house fire on Friday night.

The fire was reported at around 8:15 pm at 115 6th St. NE.  Four units and 20 firefighters responded to the scene.  The fire was reported to be in the kitchen.

According to authorities the fire may have been caused by stove being left on.

The family was able to escape the home without injury, however 2 of the family dogs perished in the fire.

The home is unlivable due to fire and smoke damage.  The American Red Cross was on hand to assist the family with temporary shelter.

No injuries were reported.  Fire crews were on the scene for about 90 minutes.
