BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – She was born to be a cowgirl in western North Dakota three decades ago, now she’s competing on the biggest stage of her successful career as a woman and artist.

Codi Ann Miller is a native of Amidon, North Dakota where she raised horses, chickens and other farm animals with her parents and siblings on the family farm. She now resides in Bismarck.

Earlier this year, Miller gave this summary of her resiliency and determination to reach one of her many goals in life:

She said, “For the first time in the 72 year history, the Miss USA Organization removed the age limit and welcomed women of all ages. Miller said when she heard of the rule change, I prayed for guidance: peace on my heart to move on or courage to try one more time. I decided to quietly enter. I focused on my heart and mind. One of my best friends, referring to trying seven times, asked me if resiliency was enough to win. I am here to tell you: NEVER WEAKEN when you hear no. Everything happens for a reason because God has a plan. You just have to be patient. Focus on positive outlets to keep a positive outlook on life.” Miller added, “I am proud to be breaking records as the oldest woman to have ever been crowned Miss North Dakota USA. And I am looking forward to walking across the Miss USA stage, which will be nationally televised live on the CW Channel Sunday, August 4th at 7pm Central Time or 6pm Mountain Time.”

Miller is also a former Miss Rodeo North Dakota (2014) and currently serves as the Miss Rodeo National Director to encouraged others to join their organization to help promote western heritage, while creating cowgirls with character.

Again the 73rd Annual Miss USA Pageant will air live Aug. 4, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Central Time on The CW Channel. The Miss Teen USA pageant will kick off the festivities Thursday, Aug. 1 at 8 p.m. ET, or 7pm Central Time or 6pm Mountain Time on The CW Channel.
