JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) is excited to announce the addition of Mason Ankenbauer, a certified athletic trainer, to its sports medicine team. Ankenbauer will join Shawnee Hansen in providing full-time athletic training services for Jamestown High School and Blue Jay varsity athletics.
JRMC’s Orthopedics and Sports Medicine department is recognized as “The Official Sports Medicine Team for Blue Jay Athletics,” dedicated to ensuring that athletes receive the necessary training and care to compete at their highest level.
Ankenbauer, a native of Kenmare, N.D., earned his undergraduate degree in exercise science and a Master of Athletic Training from North Dakota State University (NDSU). He gained valuable experience working closely with the NDSU football team as a student athletic trainer and later served as the program’s head athletic trainer after graduation.
“I’m excited to join the team at JRMC and begin working with the dedicated coaches and athletes at Jamestown High School,” Ankenbauer said. “My goal is to help keep athletes healthy, active and performing at their best through comprehensive sports medicine and athletic training services.”
As part of JRMC’s sports medicine team, Ankenbauer and Hansen will focus on injury prevention, performance optimization, and injury rehabilitation for Jamestown High School student-athletes. Their responsibilities will include designing injury prevention protocols, consulting with coaches to enhance athletic performance, providing immediate injury treatment, and overseeing rehabilitation programs under the guidance of a referring physician.
“We are excited to welcome Mason to our sports medicine team,” said Tracy Anderson, Rehabilitation Manager at JRMC. “His experience working with Division I college athletes will be valuable as we provide the best care for the student-athletes in our community. Mason and Shawnee’s expertise and guidance will help ensure our athletes can perform at their best and return from injury safely.”
Through this collaboration, JRMC and Jamestown Public Schools work closely to ensure Blue Jay athletes receive priority access to the full range of services available at JRMC, including orthopedics and rehabilitation.
