WASHINGTON, D.C. (NewsDakota.com) – Senator Kevin Cramer announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded $4,649,795 in grants through the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) to support various projects at airports across North Dakota.
The largest portion of the funding, $2,231,738, will go to the state of North Dakota to complete the construction and rehabilitation of the runway in Dunseith. Other allocations include:
- $722,627 to the City of Williston
- $365,573 to Grafton Municipal Airport Authority
- $365,573 to Kenmare Airport Authority
- $365,573 to Linton Municipal Airport Authority
- $300,000 to the City of Minot
- $117,318 to Ashley Municipal Airport Authority
- $91,393 to Tioga Municipal Airport Authority
- $90,000 to Wahpeton Airport Authority
The AIP provides grants to public-use airports to enhance safety, capacity, security, and environmental concerns. The FAA’s investment in North Dakota aims to support the infrastructure and operational improvements needed to accommodate the growing aviation needs of the state.
The funded projects are expected to start in the coming months, with completion timelines varying based on the scope of work at each airport.
