JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) has expanded its surgical services to include pediatric dentistry, partnering with Prairie Rose Family Dentists to provide these procedures locally. Dr. Adam Woroniecki will offer pediatric dental procedures with sedation at JRMC at least twice a month.
Previously, the nearest pediatric dental surgery was over an hour away. The new service at JRMC allows for quicker, more convenient care, reducing travel time and enabling children to recover at home.
“With JRMC and their willingness to open O.R. time and care for these patients, they will be able to seek care closer to home,” said Dr. Carrie Orn of Orn Family Dentistry. “Having this service in town will make it possible for these patients to be seen more quickly for treatment.”
Dr. Orn, past president of the North Dakota Dental Association, was among the local dentists advocating for the availability of pediatric dental surgery at JRMC. Many Jamestown dentists had been referring pediatric patients to facilities outside the community for such procedures.
“We learned many children in our area have required sedation for necessary dental procedures, often traveling hours away to Fargo or Bismarck,” said JRMC President & CEO Mike Delfs. “We have three state-of-the-art surgical suites and a very skilled group of anesthesia providers – it made a lot of sense to meet this need locally.”
Dr. Woroniecki has set up a schedule to accommodate children needing sedation dentistry, with reserved surgical time at JRMC twice monthly. Parents are encouraged to consult their local dentist or contact Prairie Rose Family Dentists to determine if sedation dentistry is necessary.
“This is a great opportunity for JRMC to serve a different population of people,” said Trisha Jungels, JRMC Chief Nursing Officer. “JRMC spends a lot of time talking about adult care; it is amazing to bring a new service line to help children here at JRMC.”
