PEKIN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A motorcyclist involved in a rollover crash on ND Highway 1 has died from his injuries, authorities said.

Ricky Howatt, 63, of Cooperstown, was traveling northbound on ND Highway 1,1⁄2 mile east & 1 mile north of Pekin when he lost control of his 2000 Harley Davidson Heritage Classic motorcycle just after 4 pm on July 20th. The motorcycle overturned, throwing Howatt from the vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Emergency responders from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Nelson County Sheriff Department, McVille Fire Department, Pekin Fire Department, McVille Ambulance Service, and Lake Region Ambulance Service attended the scene. Howatt sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Howatt died on Saturday, July 27, at Altru Hospital. No charges have been filed in connection with the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
