JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Two individuals sustained serious injuries following a single-vehicle rollover accident early Thursday morning in northwest Jamestown, authorities said.

The Jamestown Police Department responded to a call at approximately 7:27 a.m. regarding an accident in the 1500 block of 4th Street NW. The site of the crash is located on the outskirts of the city, in a relatively remote area with few nearby businesses.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 2010 Dodge Journey down a steep embankment on the south side of the road. A female occupant’s cries for help alerted a passerby who called emergency services. The vehicle’s occupants, a 27-year-old male driver and a 28-year-old female passenger, were found a considerable distance from the roadway.

The male driver had to be extricated from the vehicle by rescue squad members, while the female passenger had been ejected from the vehicle. Both were initially transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center before being transferred to a hospital in Fargo for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle was westbound on 4th Street NW when it left the roadway, vaulted off an embankment, rolled, and ultimately came to rest against a tree. The vehicle and its occupants are believed to have been at the scene for an extended period before being discovered.

The Jamestown Police Department is continuing its investigation into the incident. No charges have been filed at this time.

Assisting agencies included the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office, North Dakota Highway Patrol, Jamestown Area Ambulance, Jamestown Fire Department, Jamestown Rural Fire Department, and the Jamestown City Street Department.
